The
CSRG Mentorship Program
has been developed in order to move forward and expand our
research in scleroderma.
Until
now, there has been poor integration between the clinical and
basic aspects of the disease. For this reason, our laboratory
and clinical teams have been trained to work together on
inter-disciplinary research that centers on multiple aspects of
scleroderma. This will allow for an interchange of information
between academics, researchers, and patients and will enable us
to eventually provide an effective manner to treat the disease.
All
of our mentors are investigators that have already performed SSc
research or SSc-related research in the past. The goal of the
program is to increase the scope and implication of the
mentors’ research and build up the rapid translation of
knowledge of scleroderma, using the basic and clinical aspects
of the disease.
A
specific objective of the mentorship program is to mentor young
researchers to allow them to develop necessary skills to
generate and pursue innovative and productive research ideas in
the area of skin research.
Mentors
are expected to closely monitor their Trainees, providing
support and feedback with regards to their research project.
Mentors also ensure that any findings and knowledge are
distributed to other collaborators of the CSRG, which is in turn
distributed to members of the general population.
Please
see below for a link to the Mentorship Program Letter of
Agreement, which outlines all deadlines and expectations for
both the Mentors and Trainees.
This
section is primarily directed towards Mentors, please see the
Trainee Program portion of our website to learn more specific
details about becoming a Trainee.
